About seizure medications

There are two common types of seizure medications:

  1. Daily anti-seizure medications: Are taken daily to help prevent seizures.
  2. Immediate-use seizure medications (rescue medications): Are used as needed to help stop episodes of frequent seizures. They are given immediately at the first sign of a seizure episode.

Your healthcare provider can help determine what medications may be appropriate.
